A series of methacrylamides containing benzoxazole (BO) mesogenic side groups and different lengths of alkyl units was synthesized in this study. A methacrylamide containing the n-dodecyl group was selected as a suitable monomer to obtain beneficial thermally conductive polymeric materials because of its sufficient solubility in toluene in the subsequent radical polymerization and because of its liquid crystallinity. This methacrylamide led to a highly soluble polymer with film-forming ability. The BO-containing polymethacrylamide also exhibited liquid-crystalline (LC) behavior during the heating and cooling processes. The cast film was kept at a slightly lower temperature than the clearing temperature and quenched to room temperature. This procedure afforded a film maintaining optical anisotropy at room temperature, implying that a frozen LC structure is maintained at room temperature. The quenched film also resulted in a significantly enhanced thermal conductivity (lambda = 0.60 W m(-1) K-1) without the aid of fillers and external fields, unlike the as-cast counterpart without optical anisotropy. A polyacrylate containing a flexible long alkylene (C-6) spacer between the main chains and a BO-containing mesogenic side group was also investigated. The polyacrylate exhibited LC behavior during the heating and cooling processes over wide ranges. The polyacrylate film quenched from an established temperature, which contains a frozen LC structure, also exhibited a significantly enhanced lambda value (0.63 W m(-1) K-1) without fillers and external fields. Benzazole dyes have shown great potential for application in different fields of science due to their intense and stable photoluminescence properties, associated with high sensitivity. In this study, we developed and evaluated micro-structured fluorescent powders based on benzazole dyes for fingerprint detection on different types (porous and non-porous) and colors (dark, white, and multi-colored) of surfaces. The new micro-structured powders were obtained by embedding a small amount of benzazole dye into a silica matrix (1:100 and 1:300 mass ratio) using an aqueous solution or ethanol under ambient conditions. The photophysical properties were characterized by UV-vis absorption and fluorescence emission spectroscopy. To assess the efficiency of these proposed powders, comparisons were performed with commercially available black, white, and fluorescent powders (Sirchie (R)) for different types of surfaces. The developed micro-structured powders showed intense fluorescence emission in the blue-green region, and a sharp contrast with the fingerprint residues when exposed to long wavelengths of UV light (365 nm) was observed, producing distinct ridge details on all examined surfaces.

Furthermore, the in silico binding mode of the compound on docking against p38 MAP kinase exemplified stronger interactions than those of SB203580.

The synthesis of a series of 2-arylbenzoxazole compounds possessing a cytotoxic activity as potential anticancer agents was achieved. Oxidative coupling of benzaldehyde with o-aminophenol utilizing lead tetraacelate approach was used to realize the synthesis of compounds 1-11. The cytotoxicity of 1-11 was screened against breast cancer cell line MCF-7 and human colon cancer cell line HCT-116 utilizing doxorubicin as a reference drug.
