Progress of the reaction was monitored by TLC and LCMS. After completion, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the crude obtained was purified by column chromatography (silica, 230-400 mesh, 40-50% EtOAc in hexane) to afford (E)-6-bromo-2-(2-(2,5-dimethyl-l-phenyl-lH- pyrrol-3-yl)vinyl)benzo|i ]oxazole (71a; 0.3 g, 32%) as a yellow solid.
