The mixture was heated at 80?C for 12?h. The inorganics were removed by filtration and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was purified by column chromatography (cyclohexane/ethyl acetate), 9:1 (v:v)) to afford 6-bromo-3-(4-chlorobutyl)-1,3-benzoxazol-2-one as a white solid (1.2?g, 3.94?mmol). Mp 61.9-62.4?C. 1H NMR (300?MHz, CDCl3): delta 7.39 (d, J?=?1.8?Hz, 1H), 7.34 (dd, J?=?8.3, 1.8?Hz, 1H), 6.88 (d, J?=?8.3?Hz, 1H), 3.87 (t, J?=?6.8?Hz, 2H), 3.60 (t, J?=?6.1?Hz, 2H), 2.27-1.74 (m, 4H). 13C NMR (75?MHz, CDCl3): delta 154.1, 143.1, 130.2, 126.9, 114.8, 113.8, 109.2, 77.5, 77.0, 76.6, 44.0, 41.6, 29.2, 25.0. LCMS m/z calc for [M + ACN + H]+: 345.6, 347.6, found: 345.1, 347.1.
