Step 4:To a solution of 4-[1-carboxy-2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-ethyl]-benzoic acid ethyl ester (650 mg, 2.05 mmol) and 2-aminobenzoxazole (290 mg, 2.16 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (25 mL) was added DMAP (75 mg, 0.615 mmol) and EDC.HCl (472 mg, 2.46 mmol).The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight and then concentrated in vacuo.Purification by chromatography (silica, 20percent ethyl acetate/hexanes) afforded 4-[1-(benzooxazol-2-ylcarbamoyl)-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-ethyl]-benzoic acid ethyl ester (722 mg, 82percent): m.p. 122-125° C., LC/MS-ESI observed [M+H]+ 433.
