Application of nano-SnO2 as an efficient and environmentally benign catalyst was explored for the synthesis of 2-arylbenzoxalzole derivatives I [R = Ph, 2-HOC6H4, 2-MeOC6H4, 2-furyl, 3-Cl, 2-thienyl, etc., R1 = H, Me, Cl, NO2] or 2-alkylbenzoxazole derivatives I [R = H, Me, Et, R1 = H, Me, Cl] via condensation reaction of 2-aminophenols with aryl aldehydes or orthoesters, resp.
