Example compound obtained in 56-2 (500 mg, 2.82 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran (10 ml), and ethanol (10 ml) solution of calcium chloride (626 mg, 5.64 mmol) was added dissolved at 0 . Sodium borohydride (427 mg, 11.29 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature. After completion of the reaction, 1mol / l hydrochloric acid was added, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. Dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane / ethyl acetate) to give the title compound (154 mg, 37%).

2-Bromopyridine (1 ) (1 .0g, 6.3mmol), benzo[d]oxazol-2-amine (2) (0.871 g, 6.4mmol), Xantphos (0.37g, 0.63mmol), and Cs2C03 (3.09g, 9.4mmol) were combined in dry 1 ,4-dioxane (15mL). The reaction mixture was degassed with N2(g) and placed under vacuum for 10min. Pd2(dba)3 (0.289g, 0.31 mmol) was then added and the resulting reaction mixture was heated at 90°C for 30h. It was then poured onto demineralized water (200ml_), and extracted with EtOAc (3 x 100ml_). The organic phases were combined, dried over Na2S04, filtered and subsequently concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by flash chromatography with EtOAc/Hexane (1 : 1 ) to provide N-(pyridin-2- yl)benzo[d]oxazol-2-amine (3) as a yellow solid (0.8g, 60percent). The reaction mixture was heated at 60 C for 3 h. After cooling, the reaction mixture was poured into 100 mL water and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 70 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with saturated aqueous NaCl and dried over sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed in vacuo, and the residue was purified by flash column chromatography (SiO2) using hexane/ethyl acetate (8:2) as eluent to give 3.6 g (62%) of 2e as a white solid.

Et3N (0.25 mL, 1.81 mmol) was added to thesuspension under N2. The reaction mixture was vigorously stirred at 40 C for 22 h under N2. Theresulting mixture was diluted with water to form a precipitate, which was filtered, washed with water anddissolved with CHCl3. The obtained organic solutions were dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. Theresidue was purified by flash chromatography (SiO2, AcOEt : hexane = 30 : 70) to give 143.0 mg (94%)of white powde;

A solution of methyl benzo[d]oxazole-7-carboxylate (0.5 g, 2.82 mmol), 1-iodo-4-nitrobenzene (0.88 g, 3.53 mmol), lithium tert-butoxide (0.45 g, 5.64 mmol), tetrakis(triphenyl phosphine)palladium(0) (0.16 g, 0.141 mmol) in dioxane under a nitrogen atmosphere was stirred at room temperature for 45 minutes. The resulting thick suspension was diluted with EtOAc, washed with water, organics washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, decanted and solvent removed under vacuum. The crude was purified by column chromatography on silica gel using 20:1 to 5:1 Hexane:EtOAc as eluent to give methyl 2-(4-nitrophenyl)benzo[d]oxazole-7-carboxylate (0.4 g, 48%). UPLC-MS (Acidic Method, 2 min): rt 1.11 min, m/z 299.0 [M+H]+
