After stirring at 55C for 18 hours, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (100 mL), washed with dilute citric acid, water and brine. The organic phase was dried over MgS04 and concentrated to obtain 3-(3-chloropropyl)benzo[i ]oxazol-2(3H)-one (3.1 g, 99%>).
